The major features of AutoSolids EXPRESS can be grouped into 5 categories:
Solid
Model Creation Tools AutoSolids
EXPRESS provides numerous methods for creating 3D solids.
Basic primitive shapes such as boxes, sphere, cylinders, etc. are quickly
created by issuing the appropriate command and providing corresponding
parameter values in the dialog box. Custom primitive shapes are
created by selecting 2D shapes for extruding, revolving, or
sweeping. All
creation commands allow the solid to be previewed, and if the results are
not as expected the parameters can be revised as the preview
continually updates to reflect the new parameters.
Primitive
shapes are combined together through
boolean operations(union, subtract,
intersect) to form complex composite solids.
The boolean
operations can be performed during primitive creation or at a later time as a
separate step, providing unique flexibility unmatched by feature-based
systems due to their dependence on ordered relationships. Constraint-Free
Parametric Solid Editing
Boolean
operations can be retracted to break composites solids back down into
their primitive shapes. Primitives are easily changed via
the "soledit" command, and can also be manipulated by standard
AutoCAD commands such as move, copy, rotate, scale, etc. Primitives
can then be combined back into a composite solid via boolean
operations. Unlike conventional parametric modelers, AutoSolids requires no
time-consuming constraints, workplanes, workpoints, or any extraneous
control entities during either solid creation or editing.
RealView™
Advanced Visualization Tools
RealView greatly improves the 3D
visualization capabilities of AutoCAD by providing numerous
options for the real-time display of solids. The user can work, pan,
rotate, and zoom in real-time in either rendered,
hidden-line, or wireframe display mode.
QuickDraw™ Automatic 2D Drawing Generator
QuickDraw
instantly creates and aligns up to (6) orthographic and (4) isometric 2D
drawing views with one command, and includes options for layer and
linetype controls and selectable inclusion/exclusion of hidden, visible,
and tangent lines. 2D geometry created by QuickDraw is regular 2D
AutoCAD lines and arcs, only created much faster and with perfect
view-to-view accuracy every time.
Flexible
AutoCAD-standard Interface Customizable toolbars,
pull-down menus, and command line interaction are
available, and numerous subtle interface options are also
present, like the choice of command line or dialog driven interaction, the
interchangeable use of radius and diameter parameters, and the ability to
enter mathematical expressions directly into dialog boxes. Plus, the
complete 3D command set is available in ONE central location, the exclusive
3D Command Center™, a single dialog box with tabs for Solid
Modeling, UCS, Viewing, and Visualization commands.
